ARC OF LIGHT: A Portrait of Anna Campbell Bliss Private Screening
Enjoy a private screening of the film ARC OF LIGHT: A Portrait of Anna Campbell Bliss, which will receive March premieres at both the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City and at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. as part of the Environmental Film Festival.
ARC OF LIGHT: A Portrait of Anna Campbell Bliss is a documentary film about a pioneering artist, architect and designer who has devoted her life to the creation of works of art that explore the complex intersections between art, technology, science, nature, poetry, mathematics and architecture. The film looks at the astonishing range of Bliss's work, from small painterly and digitally based studies of color and light to architectural site commissions of immense scale. It also puts her work in art-historical context and traces her Modernist influences, including the Bauhaus artists of the 1920s. At age 86, Bliss continues to take on large-scale site commissions and create new works of art in her Salt Lake City studio. Anna Campbell Bliss is a true pioneer in American Modernism, and was one of the first women ever trained as an architect at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Enjoy this exclusive private screening experience on Sat., May 12, 6-8pm in the home of Cid Collins Walker, the Executive Producer and Director of this film, and her husband, Richard Walker, the film's Writer and Producer. Light hor'deurves and beverages will be served.
Sat., May 12, 2012, 6-8pm, Seating for 8 people.

Feast of the Seven Fishes
Enjoy an Italian Christmas Eve feast of seven fishes at the Lamancusa home in March. This traditional feast is a celebration of Christmas Eve with multiple courses of fish and other seafood, and is believed to have originated in Southern Italy. There are many hypotheses as why to "seven" different types of fish. Popular theories include the seven Sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church; seven representing perfection (the traditional Biblical number for divinity is three, and for Earth is four, and the combination of these numbers, seven, represents God on Earth, or Jesus Christ), or that seven represents the seven seas. The meal's components may include some combination of Mussels with Pesto, Shrimp Cocktail, Crabmeat Dip, Pan-fried Calamari, Sea Scallops Wrapped in Bacon, Linguini with Lobster Sauce, Steamed Snow Crab Legs, Grilled Wild Salmon, Teriyaki Halibut, and Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi-Mahi. The menu will also include salad, vegetables, wine, baked goods, and coffee.
